Last winter was the best winter that I had. Because, I had the opportunity and honor of becoming a delegate of AMSEP Thailand 2017.
This AMSEP Program really captures the three philosophies of AMSA, which is Knowledge, Action, Friendship. Me and nine other delegates came to Thailand on 16th of December and stayed there until 22nd of December 2017. This was the first time I joined AMSEP and I’m so happy to be a part of AMSEP because I learned so many things there. I met new friends and got to know them better. The staffs were very friendly to us, we were very enthusiastic to observe all about Thailand, especially about the faculty of medicine curriculum. There, I saw that medical students in Thailand were always study and their anatomy practice was so much different than our campus because in Thailand one laboratorium divided into so many groups, and one group consisted of five people. One group use one cadaver until the end of the year. Then, after one year they can have a new one. Not only they learn from the cadaver, but they also dissected it themselves. So, students can learn about the dissection process.
We also learned about the culture and the rich history of Thailand. We visited so many temples there and know more about the kingdom in Thailand. The temples have not so much of a different with our temples in Indonesia.
In our 7 days stay there, we visited their Parasitology lab, Hospitals, a lot of museums, and anatomy lecture.
From my opinion, I think the best part of this program is that I got to meet new people, exchanged our experience, and just had a lot of fun with them. Relations is always important to me, and as a doctor we have to make good relations with our peers. Learning from other peoples perspective always benefit us in the future, because I believe that experience is our teacher. Last but not least, I really recommend you all the member of AMSA-UKI to join AMSEP, it will be an unforgettable experience for you. I guarantee it.
